Georgia Democrats on Capitol Hill are again expressing concern over the number of children losing their health insurance coverage during the nationwide Medicaid redetermination process, which has been ongoing since last spring after COVID-19 public health emergency protections ended.
As of last fall, roughly 150,000 Georgia children had their health coverage cut off, according to the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The agency has repeatedly urged the state to do more to keep kids covered.
Now, Mon. Jon Ossoff and Rep. Lucy McBath has sent a joint letter urging Gov. Brian Kemp to improve the state’s…
When the public health emergency related to COVID-19 ended, so did continuous Medicaid health insurance coverage for many vulnerable US families. But in a process that has, as of March 19, dropped 11.19 million people, including 4.61 million children, many former beneficiaries may not know they’re losing coverage or that they may be eligible to get it back.
Utah at this point has the highest rate of “procedural” terminations, according to a state-by-state analysis by the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University, which used national data reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In Utah, 94%…
If the contract ends, people covered by Cigna Insurance would be billed out-of-network costs at ProMedica facilities.
TOLEDO, Ohio —
ProMedica may soon end a contract with a health insurance company if the two parties don’t reach an agreement in negotiations over a new contract.
If Cigna Insurance and ProMedica are unable to reach an agreement, the contract will end on April 1. In a statement from ProMedica, the healthcare company says it entered a short-term agreement with Cigna in 2022.
The statement says ProMedica and Cigna have been negotiating for several months to reach a renewed contract, but have…
Lawmakers are pressing the Pentagon to improve medical care in Japan for US military personnel, families and Defense Department civilians amid ongoing concerns that the lack of access to care is forcing service members and federal civilian employees to leave the country.
The move follows efforts initiated last October by US Indo-Pacific Command and the Defense Health Agency to improve emergency medical services for Americans covered by a Status of Forces Agreement with Japan.
In a letter to the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs and director of the Defense Health Agency, the bipartisan group that includes the chairwoman…
The RCN has responded to the announcement that more than 27,000 health care workers who provide publicly funded care in England are set to receive 2 one-off payments worth between £1,655 and £3,789. We’ve acknowledged this progress as “a huge leap forward” but say waiting so long to receive the payments has added “insult to injury” to hardworking nursing staff.
Last year, NHS staff on Agenda for Change contracts received 2 one-off payments in addition to a 5% pay uplift. But the government did not make funding available for the one-off payments for staff working on dynamic Agenda for Change…
Medicaid assisted Randi La Salle avoid difficult decisions.
Should she pay for health care for her and her four children? Or their food or school supplies?
La Salle, who worked three jobs, and her family were among roughly 185,000 Idahoans who over the past year lost health insurance coverage on Medicaid, which largely insures people who are low-income or have disabilities.
Starting April 2023, states were allowed to start removing people from Medicaid, after a three-year federal pause on removals — due to the COVID-19 pandemic — ended.
Idaho pursued a fast timeline for resuming Medicaid eligibility reviews, known as…
